Kuwait International Airport and the area hosting the U.S. Fifth Fleet headquarters in Bahrain were targeted overnight from June 2 to 3 by drones and missiles attributed to Iran, leaving one dead, several injured, and causing major disruptions to air traffic, Al-Jazeera reported.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said it intercepted several incoming projectiles, preventing further damage but confirming the intensity of the attack.
Iran said the strikes were retaliatory, following U.S. attacks on an Iranian tanker and a strategic facility on Qeshm Island, while also accusing Kuwait and Bahrain of facilitating U.S. operations, claims both countries strongly deny.
The escalation comes as indirect talks between Washington and Tehran continue in parallel over a potential agreement, further heightening instability across the Gulf.
