Abu Dhabi-based investment group 2PointZero is continuing its global energy expansion with the acquisition of US natural gas company Traverse Midstream Partners for $2.25 billion, according to The National on July 14.
Completed through its subsidiary ePointZero, the deal gives the UAE a strategic foothold in the US natural gas market through stakes in two major energy infrastructure assets: a 35% interest in Rover Pipeline and a 25% interest in Ohio River System, both operated by Energy Transfer, one of the largest US pipeline and hydrocarbon infrastructure operators.
Through this acquisition, Abu Dhabi aims to secure long-term, stable energy assets while strengthening its position in a key market for global natural gas supply.
The transaction is part of a broader diversification strategy pursued by the UAE, which is investing simultaneously in hydrocarbons, renewable energy, and infrastructure linked to emerging technologies.
In April, another 2PointZero subsidiary signed a 20-year LNG supply agreement with Mexican company Amigo LNG, further highlighting the group’s ambition to build a globally diversified energy portfolio.
Its portfolio also includes companies such as Elsewedy Electric (Egypt), Kalyon Enerji (Türkiye), and EHC Investment (Abu Dhabi).
With its entry into the US market, ePointZero aims to build an integrated energy platform capable of meeting rising global demand, particularly from industrial sectors and AI-driven data centers.
